Sizes

Popular 1502 Plug Valve Sizes

2"Up to 15,000 psi

The most common size for frac iron, flowback, well testing and cementing lines.

3"Up to 15,000 psi

Higher flow for frac and flowback spreads and manifold headers.

4"Up to 15,000 psi

Large bore for high-rate flowback and production test lines.

How It Works

Why Low-Torque 1502 Plug Valves

A plug valve opens and closes with a quarter turn of the plug. In a low-torque design, side segments seal against the plug, so the valve turns easily even at full line pressure and gives a full, straight-through flow path.

The 1502 hammer union ends connect directly to Figure 1502 flowline products such as pup joints, swivel joints and crosses, so the valve can be added to a temporary flowline in minutes without welding.

Applications

Where 1502 Plug Valves Are Used

  • Frac and stimulation lines – isolation on frac iron and treating lines
  • Flowback and well testing – quick shut-off on temporary test spreads
  • Cementing and acidizing units – high-pressure pump discharge lines
  • Manifolds – part of choke and frac manifolds
  • Well service – kill lines, bleed-off and circulating lines

Design

Built for Cementing & Frac Manifolds

The 1502 plug valve is a key valve in high-pressure manifolds for well cementing and fracturing, and in other high-pressure fluid control systems. Its compact structure, low operating torque and quick opening make it easy to use and easy to maintain in the field.

Inlets and outlets use Figure 1502 union connections, which can also be customised to your requirements. The plug fits between the body and the seal segments, and seal rings are inlaid in the outside of each seal segment for reliable sealing. FracSync also supplies matching pup joints, swivel joints, tees and crosses.

FAQ

1502 Plug Valve Questions

Pressure ratings, sizes, connections and parts.

01What is a 1502 plug valve?

A 1502 plug valve is a quarter-turn, high-pressure valve with Figure 1502 hammer union ends. It is used to open and isolate temporary flowlines such as frac iron, flowback and well testing lines.

02What pressure is a 1502 plug valve rated for?

Our 1502 plug valves are available for working pressures up to 15,000 psi, which is the standard rating for Figure 1502 hammer union connections.

03What sizes are available?

We supply 1502 plug valves in 2", 3" and 4" sizes. The 2" valve is the most widely used on frac and flowback lines.

04What does MxF mean on a plug valve?

MxF means one end has the male half of a 1502 hammer union (with the wing nut) and the other end has the female half (threaded). FxF and MxM versions are also available to match your flowline layout.

05What material classes and temperature ratings are available?

Material classes AA, BB, CC, DD, EE and FF (including sour service), temperature class LU (-51°F to 250°F), PSL 1 – 3G and PR1 – PR2.

06Plug valve or gate valve – which should I use?

Plug valves are compact, quarter-turn and ideal for temporary 1502 flowlines. API 6A gate valves are flanged and used on wellheads, frac trees and permanent installations.
